FAWE
- Forum for African Women
Educationalists
12th Technical Committee
Meeting. Nairobi, 14-15
September 2000
FAWE [Forum
for African Women
Educationalists] is a pan-African
NGO founded in 1993 to
stimulate broad policy reform
and create a conducive
environment for increasing
parental demand for girls'
education. Underpinning FAWE's
work is an explicit effort to
close the gender gap in
education, not only in access
but in persistence and
achievement at all levels.
UNESCO is one of FAWE's
partners.
The FAWE Technical
Committee (TC) provides
professional advice to the
Executive Committee through the
Secretariat. Members are
appointed to the Technical
Committee based on
qualifications and experience in
educational and other
development issues with
particular reference to Africa.
The tenure of service for
members is three years. Upon
successful completion of a term,
a member may be re-appointed for
a second term. The Executive
Secretary, Intergovernmental
Committee, MINEDAF VII, Dr.
John Nkinyangi, is a member
of the FAWE Technical Committee.
