Intersectoral Task Force
The UNESCO Task Force on MINEDAF VII is intersectoral. All the major Programme Sectors of UNESCO --- Education; Natural Sciences; Communication, Information and Informatics; Culture; and Social and Human Sciences --- and the UNESCO Field Offices in Africa are members of it. Education is the lead Sector.


Functions of the Task Force

  • to ensure effective co-ordination and speedy implementation of the provisions of the Durban Statement of Commitment
  • to seek to include in the UNESCO Programme and Budget for 2000-2001 priorities identified by the African Ministers of Education
  • to strengthen coordination of UNESCO activities in the Africa region related to education, human resource development, training and capacity-building
  • to foster and encourage cooperation between UNESCO and its partners in actions related to MINEDAF VII follow-up


Chair of Task Force

The Chair of the Task Force is Mme Aïcha Bah Diallo, UNESCO Deputy Assistant Director-General for Education and Director, Division of Basic Education. [Mme Bah Diallo is a former Minister of Education of Guinea.]
